How to draw an Avocado in Procreate

Here’s a step by step guide of how to draw an avocado in Procreate. There is a full video and step by step visuals included. Let me know HERE if there are any other tutorials you’d like to see and make sure you subscribe HERE to stay up to date!

  1. Import the guide and colour palette into Procreate

  2. Create a new layer

  3. Use the monoline brush to draw the outline of the avocado in the first green colour

  4. Duplicate the layer

  5. Select the bottom of the 2 layers and fill it in using the next dark brown colour

  6. Select the warp feature and drag the edges slightly beyond the top layer so you can see the brown colour (it doesn’t need to be completely even)

  7. Create a new layer above the other layers

  8. Use the next shade of green to draw in the middle of the avocado and fill it in

  9. Create another new layer and do the same with yellow, but make it smaller again

  10. Merge those 3 layers together and turn on alpha lock

  11. Select gaussian blur and blur until blended

  12. Bring the guide back up to the top layer and create a new layer

  13. Use the next brown colour to draw a circle and fill it in

  14. Turn on alpha lock and using the original dark brown (second colour), draw an arc on the bottom of the circle

  15. Use the next light brown colour to draw in highlights at the top of the circle

  16. Select gaussian blur and blend together

  17. Duplicate the layer and fill it in using the black colour

  18. Use warp to drag this layer just beyond the edges of the layer above so you can see it (makes more sense if you watch the video tutorial)

  19. Duplicate the top layer again and fill it in black again.

  20. Reduce the opacity to around 50%, turn off alpha lock and use gaussian blur to blur it slightly

  21. Drag this layer downwards to create a shadow effect

  22. Merge all of your layers together (make sure you either turn off or delete the guide layer first)

  23. Duplicate the layer and turn on alpha lock

  24. Select fill layer (you should still have black selected)

  25. Turn off alpha lock and reduce the opacity to around 50%

  26. Use gaussian blur to around 10-15%

  27. Use the freeform option to drag the layer downwards and then bring the bottom up to meet itself (again, it makes more sense in the video!)

    THE END!
